PNG Law Society Notice to All lawyers in Papua New Guinea regarding the 2026 Rule of Law march

23rd March 2026

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Papua New Guinea Law Society, I am pleased to invite all members of the legal profession to participate in our Annual Rule of Law March for 2026 to be held on Friday, 27th March 2026.

This year, we will assemble at Musgrave Street in Downtown Port Moresby in front of MRDC Haus from 8:30am and march together at 9am to the APEC Haus at Ela Beach, where we will convene for the Rule of Law Forum.

The Rule of Law March has become an important tradition for our profession. It is an opportunity for lawyers to stand together in reaffirming our collective commitment to the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the proper administration of justice in Papua New Guinea.

At the Forum, we are honoured to have Grand Chief Sir John Momis address the profession on the vision and history behind our Constitution, reflecting on the aspirations and dreams of our nation’s founding fathers and mothers at Independence.

In addition, several senior members of the Bar will be invited to speak on critical contemporary issues affecting the rule of law, including emerging legislative risks to the integrity of our legal system and the broader implications for Papua New Guinea following its grey-listing in international financial compliance frameworks.

Importantly, lawyers who attend the full program will receive full Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit, in anticipation of the mandatory CLE regime scheduled to take effect in 2027.

I strongly encourage all members of the profession to take part in this important event. Your presence will demonstrate our profession’s unity and commitment to defending the rule of law and strengthening our legal institutions.

I look forward to your participation and to standing together with you in this important march. The final program will be shared within the week.

Sincerely,

Hubert Namani
President
